Skin on the Ground, Pie in the Sky

I loaded up a plate of pie, cake, and cookies in hopes to bring it home to my wife. On the way home I rode my skateboard holding the plate with another plate on top. I went down the hill I've bombed many many times. Well this time I ate shit. I got to the bottom and had to cross a road. A car was coming half a block away and I thought, no thing I'll cruise across with enough time. As I got half way across the street I hit some what felt like gravel my board started the death wobble and I went flying hitting the pavement bringing the pie and everything with me. In mid fall I knew I was fucked and chucked it. As I got up I had a line of cars 4 to 5. With their lights on me. I did a little bow with a swirling hand jester picked up my skateboard and threw it across the rest of the road. I was pissed. I had sweets smeared on me and my pride hurt. What a wonderful ending after a nine and a half hour shift. Can't wait to go back.  Luckily I wasn't physically hurt much, but goddamn my pride was hurt.

Thoughts
I'm going a little stir crazy, on the verge of purchasing a new bike. Its a revolving annoyance. I can go a while not thinking about it but it always seems to arise, the thoughts of my missing bike. Today I was looking at new bikes and frames. It's sad to see such high prices. Its pretty crazy to spend a grand on a bike in my opinion. I would like to get something nice but avoid the price. Who knows eventually I may just break and have to get something. It's driving me nuts lacking transportation. I still don't get why some douche bag had to steal my bike.

04-21-15 Recoup, Recoup

Man oh man the weekend was a blast, as well as, an ass kicker. Today we are trying to unpack and relax. Its crazy how worn out we are. The heat was brutal and we hit Coachella hard. My boo is all burnt up and I'm sun soaked as well. The day is beautiful here at home. We tried to enjoy some of the sunshine but our worn out bodies couldn't take much. This we returned home and chilled out. It isn't till you go to do something that you realize how tired you are and how much more recovery is needed. We are glad to be home.

04-20-15 The Day After

Driving and more driving. Last year I attempted to drive all the way back but found out that my vision and mind couldn't stay up. This year I drove maybe half then realized my eyes crossing and let my lover take over the wheel. This allowed me to sleep some and get some more energy. Eventually I drove sent more but again had to had it over to our friend to finish the last leg of the trip. We made pretty good time. The drive sucked at times with shitty speed limits and single lanes, but still worked out well. We left at a decent time maybe 9am and got home about 2am. It was a happy sight to finally be home.

Walk to work
(10mins)

Thoughts
Holy crap I am still worn out from Coachella. Now I'm back at work and dragging ass only minutes into it. Just when things cool down I learn from a friend a surprise Jack White concert in Boise. Its fucking nuts only $3 cash in person. Already looks like it will sell out, but crossing my fingers that maybe something will work out. It was awesome to see him at Coachella, so if anything we have that experience.
Right now look towards what is in store for my day I wanna say fuck it. I have to perform an autopsy, play histology, and be a phlebotomist today. Too much especially after such a long weekend. I'm gonna be playing catch up all day.

Autopsy
(4hrs)

Thoughts
Well the good and the bad. The show is sold out. The bad I was hoping to go but things weren't gonna work out. The good now I can let it go. We got to see him at Coachella and it was fucking amazing.

04-16-15 Road to Coachella

Las Vegas to Coachella

We tried to get there pretty early and its been weird, its a toss up when to get there. Last years we got there really late and had pretty good camping spots. This year we got there at 5 or so and got closer spots but didn't seems to make much of a difference. Although looking back we had a much better spot with nice grass, not the goatheads and dirt the last camping area had. It was cool we actually got to set up during the daylight and get situated yo where we could then go explore. Not being so rushed really helps. Also my friend and I got two car camping passes which was awesome to have go decent amount of room for our shit. Last year a guy with is said he had a two or three person tent, which turned out to be a four person tent with one fucker sleeping in it. This really ate up our space, plus it threw us off since the last year he had a much MUCH smaller tent. Its gonna be a good year.

Thoughts
Today I feel really scatter brained. My focus has been on reading and learning things to push me forward, but now my focus has really changed due to Coachella coming up. I'm all over the place thinking of packing, of music, of my job, of money, and my focus. I can't seem to narrow things down at the moment. We are getting things together but I'm still thinking what else do we need and are we missing anything? And lately I have been working a lot more, again pulling my focus away from what I would really like to be doing. Things are a little crazy at the moment. It's thrown me off my usual routine, which makes me feel off kilter. Its coming together but seems hectic at the moment.

Time Logging

I started using the app A TimeLogger today. It's pretty cool. Makes keeping track of the time you spend doing different things easy. Lately I have become semi obsessed with recording time while doing things. It raises the question of whether or not I have become too obsesses with that rather than focusing on the materials? Could be or I'm making something out of nothing. I do feel it shows my progress and gives quantitative evidence. It can be fun in a sense adding more to an activity as well. The past several months I've been working to absorb knowledge, focusing on development vs distraction. So much takes us away from learning and expanding our minds. Screens are the new lifesitter. Its easy to get caught in the trap looking for the next dopamine hit. That next bump to spark that synaptic cleft. The time we waste staring into the vastness of the internet could be so much more utilized. That is the quest I am on. Through recording my times and looking to take in good solid information. I have faith that one day the snowball will build to be something greater with more force and momentum to drive me in a positive fulfilling direction.

Everything wrong in your life is just a sign. A signal to change. Be humble enough to bow your knee and listen and act.

Stay on the rise,
Tai

- Its interesting this is really fitting right now. I've been really battling the idea of leaving my job to pursue what I truly want. Its very timely that this email just so happened to be in my inbox the day after having an emotional explosion. It let's me know I'm on the right path and everything will work out. Be patient and be grateful, it will be okay.
- I've also realized how important my reactivity to situations can be. Sometime we get swept up in the emotional wave, its a matter of perspective. We have the power to make the decision to make lemonade out of lemons. Just keep plucking away.

The Tim Ferriss Show

- Episode: http://traffic.libsyn.com/timferriss/Tim_Kreider_We_Learn_Nothing_TFS.mp3
- This 15-minute episode is experimental, and it might just change your life. I suspect many of you will listen to it on an ongoing weekly basis, and that's precisely what I plan to do. It's a wonderful essay from the newest book in the Tim Ferriss Book Club: We Learn Nothing by Tim Kreider. The essay stands on its own and is titled "Lazy: A Manifesto." I loved this book so much that I reached out to Tim and we produced the audiobook together. If you want to stop feeling rushed, this is the medicine you need. Here is what writer/director Judd Apatow has to say about Tim Kreider: "Tim Kreider's writing is heartbreaking, brutal and hilarious—usually at the same time. He can do in a few pages what I need several hours of screen time and tens of millions to accomplish. And he does it better. Come to think of it, I'd rather not do a blurb. I am beginning to feel bad about myself." - Judd Apatow And one more: "Tim Kreider may be the most subversive soul in America and his subversions—by turns public and intimate, political and cultural—are just what our weary, mixed-up nation needs. The essays in We Learn Nothing are for anybody who believes it's high time for some answers, damn it." - Richard Russo, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Empire Falls Enjoy! Don't miss this one. I will be putting up a collection of Tim's cartoons from the book at fourhourworkweek.com/podcast All books in the Tim Ferriss Book Club can be found at fourhourworkweek.com/books

Jay Seldin (@phototraveler8) is a fine art photographer, photo travel entrepreneur, and instructor. Jay has spent the bulk of his career as a teacher, whether teaching graphic design and photography at the high school level, or more recently conducting workshops and photo tours all over the world.
- This conversation tracks Jay’s early career and how he got into teaching, his accidental discovery of the Macintosh, how he transitioned into leading workshops and tours, and how Prescott learned the graphic design trade in 1998–99 as a high school senior.

- Show Notes & Links
Jay defines himself as a teacher, a photographer, and world traveler. He is a curious person and a teller of tales. His style can be defined as an “environmental portrait photographer”Jay Seldin on YouTube
- Jay’s photo career began when he was required to take a humanities class in college. That class was an introduction to Black and White Photography. Developing a print in a darkroom was Jay’s “lightbulb moment” (and that lightbulb was probably amber)When he was 18, Jay did his first cross-country road trip to San Francisco. On The Road by Jack Kerouac
- Jay earned 60¢/hr at his first photo job, working in a photo studio in New York. Photography was considered “Industrial Arts” and “Art” depending on the school, and the state. Jay taught at West Orange High School, Dwight Morrow High School, and later Columbia High School

Idea
The podcast above makes me think back to my early college days and being able to take photography and use a dark room. It was amazing to see your photos developed, he mentions the magic of it. I've been exploring my creativity and trying to find a career path or passion that will lead to a career. What could it be, Death and photography?
I've noticed I tend to assemble things and accumulate imagery. Construction on things and the use of tools has been one of my stronger traits. Could photography be something to look towards?

Thoughts
I have an uneasy feeling being here at work. The combination of losing my ring yesterday, not wanting to be here, and my desire to escape the grind. I work where just about everyone is constantly looking forward to Fridays. Isn't there more to life a desire to be filled a life to be lived. So many are absorbed in the undesirable, they work to survive, not survive to live, just to survive. I have to go to different departments and see shit about hump day and thank god its Friday. How many times can someone reiterate the how they look forward to doing what they want to do on their own time, for a whole two days. What life is that. People are drones and robots. Where is the beauty in life? I'm lucky enough to look out a window and see the beautiful sky and the massive clouds looming over. But still this does not satisfy the image nature of man to exlopre and experience that which we call life. Instead we're shackled to material slaving to one day, maybe, to own that chunk of material we value so much.

Thoughts
(Work) (1505)
I just don't want to be here at my fucking job. I feel fucking worthless sitting here waiting for time to pass when I'm free. I've been working on educating myself through reading and things to motivate myself. Am I actually making progress? I'm taking action to a certain degree but also feel I'm not taking the necessary leap of faith. I'm still here sitting being someone else's errand boy. I have ideas and aspirations, but when will that deep desire kick in that projects me towards a new direction in life? I did what others wanted of me now its time for me to do the things I dreamed up. I use to have the attitude that I'll make a decent living and pursue my passions on the side. Now I've inverted those to what passion will I follow to become successful? I think back on the things that sparked my interest most in school and other areas in my life. How can I get things to mesh and make sense? I'm moving in a direction but still am scattered. I've been saying this for some time now and its driving me insane. I want to be creative and artistic, looking at tattooing as a career has been a driver for me lately bit then I'm tossed about in the waves changing or entertaining ideas other than one focus. Everyone who has been successful finds that one thing that they can obsess over. I'm still speaking mine. I would love to tattoo as well as open a wellness center focused on holistic healing. Can they be merged. I want to help people. In the past I've thought I can only do that through the medical field but found that it doesn't suit me. I even have a fucking degree in health sciences, almost wishing I majored in art so I have more confidence in my abilities. But I followed the damn path everyone tells you to follow. Go to school get a good job, then..., you can do the things that you truly like. A fucking joke. Now I know I have a bunch of learned helplessness due to raising and education, and am having a hell of a time getting my ass in gear towards a truly fulfilling life. I'm at least in the process, which I can be grateful for. I'm learning a lot more then I have in the past and am building momentum. Its just getting to a point where I'm going to have to take the plunge and get into an apprenticeship and get on with it. I'm tires of saying I'm tired. I'm sick of saying I don't know. I want to know, I want to be tired from doing real work that I enjoy, not just a job to stuff my gullet and hope some day I will be happy. That's what the majority does and I don't want to be apart of that.

Hope down the drain

Happy first of the month. To start this blessed day off I have lost my wedding ring. It's not fun to report back after multiple times retracing my steps that nothing has turned up. I tried to keep my composure and not let the negative sinking feelings take hold, but eventually they seeped in. I'm falling apart. I feel like a complete piece of shit and am really hating myself at the moment. Like I said I've gone back over the areas I felt most likely my ring fell out of my pocket, but cannot find a single hint to where it could be. To help things the carpet is a darker gray with some multi coloring. My ring is a dark gray steel. I had only 3 chairs that I have sat in today and nothing had come up. Some people know. I've let the cleaning people know as well. I have no clue to where it could be. I can keep looking but probably will drive myself insane. I'm making an unnecessary connection to my bike being stolen, but really makes me think what the fuck is going on? First my bike now my fucking wedding ring. The things I truly care about are disappearing. That's a strong assumption. Its overwhelming at this point. Again I'm lost for how I can frame these events. Is there something to be learned? Is there some sign to be read? What the fuck is going on? The last few days I have been working on gratefulness and the ring signifying my connection and love for my wife goes missing. I remember my steps and where I went but am becoming delusional and starting to think up knew places. What is occurring? Can something be learned? Will my ring ever turn up or just another lost hope?

Oh yeah, this is not a fucking joke.
